2020 "Pigreco" Toscana Rosso IGT
"Pi" - a harmonious 100% Sangiovese dry red wine. Delicate enough to enjoy a glass on its own, but also complex enough to complement the rich flavors of a hearty meal.
In exploring the bountiful heritage of grapegrowing and winemaking along the 43rd parallel in Italy, Roberto found that the Sangiovese grape was capable of so much more than major red styles were expressing. After years of trial and error, Roberto painstakingly created a unique fermentation process in which a portion of the grapes start their fermentation at a low temperature and a portion begin at the traditional warmer temperature, before being recombined to co-ferment to completion.
The cold fermentation preserves the delicate fruit aromas which the Sangiovese grapes carry, but are rarely found in the finished wine, while the warmer fermentation gives the body and presence for which Sangiovese is treasured. The final co-fermentation ensures that the wine is seamlessly integrated. Harmony in a bottle!

I have had the honor to make wine in many countries around the world, although most people know me for my work in Italy with my Brunello di Montalcino and my work in Argentina with Malbec.
No place on earth has the same promise of greatness for Pinot Noir that I found on California's Central Coast.
